Mehdi Masoumebeigi, as the commander of the police force in Isfahan province, was directly responsible for the killing and brutal crackdown on the protesters by the forces under his command during the nationwide protests in December 2017-January 2018. This included killing of at least 6 protesters in Qahdarijan, and a child in Khomeini Shahr as a result of the direct shooting of police officers with assault weapons on 1 January, 2018. From 4 December, 2017, the Isfahan police force, with its large presence in the streets and creating a military atmosphere, prevented the peaceful holding of rallies by the citizens of Isfahan province.

Mehdi Masoumebeigi, as the commander of the police force in Isfahan province, was directly responsible for the killing and brutal suppression of protesters by the forces under his command during the November 2019 national protests. During the November 2019 protests in Isfahan, 21 protesters, including three children (Amir Hossein Davoodvand, Sasan Eidivand, and Mohammad Javad Abedi), were killed by direct fire from security and police forces.
