Imani confirms the rulings, especially in security cases, without studying the case. In an interview with Justice for Iran, Musa Barzin Khalifelou, a lawyer who has a history of representing civil and social activists in Azerbaijan, said: "Imani did not allow us to speak in security cases and said that we approve these type of cases in the stairs on our way to the court, that is, the case file will not be opened even once and [the initial sentence] will be upheld."

Mohammad Imani Yamchi, as one of the judges of the Criminal Court of the East Azerbaijan Province, was involved in sentencing Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani to death by stoning. On 10 September, 2006, this court charged Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani with adultery, without any evidence to prove Sakineh's guilt under Article 83 of the Islamic Penal Code, and despite her denial at the last hearing, asserting that all of her previous confessions were made under duress pressure and torture. The court sentenced Ashtiani to death, only on the basis of the judge's knowledge.
