Farajollah Sedaghat, as the head of Evin Prison, was responsible for the torturing, beating, illegal transfer, denial of medical care and the death of prisoners, including the death of Omid Reza MirSayyafi as result of torture and lack of medical aid.
During August 2010, following the hunger strike of 17 prisoners of ward 350, special guards and anti-riot forces under command of Sedaghat attacked the ward 250 ad transferred 15 prisoners to solitary confinement cells at ward 240 and threatened the prisoners of torture and rape.

- On 13 April, 2011, the European Union placed 32 Iranian officials, including Farajullah Sedaghat, on its list of human rights sanctions for their role in widespread and gross violations of the rights of Iranian citizens. Accordingly, Sedaghat will be barred from entering the EU and his assets will be confiscated in Europe. According to the EU statement, prisoners were tortured, threatened and ill-treated repeatedly during Farajullah Sedaghat's tenure as the head of Evin prison.

Farajollah Sedaghat, as Deputy head of Prison Organisation of Tehran province, has been responsible for the torturing, beating, illegal transfer, denial of medical care and the death of prisoners including the death of political prisoners Hassan Nahid, Hoda Saber and Sattar Beheshti. Hassan Nahid who was diagnosed with cancer was denied medical care and died in April 2011 in prison. On 12 June 2010, Hoda Saber another political prisoner died on the eighth day of his hunger strike as result of the lack of medical care and ill-treatment. Sattar Beheshti, blogger and political prisoner, died of severe torture and ill-treatment in Evin prison on 3 November 2012.
