On 13 April, 2011, the European Union placed 32 Iranian officials, including Farajullah Sedaghat, on its list of human rights sanctions for their role in widespread and gross violations of the rights of Iranian citizens. Accordingly, Sedaghat will be barred from entering the EU and his assets will be confiscated in Europe. According to the EU statement, prisoners were tortured, threatened and ill-treated repeatedly during Farajullah Sedaghat's tenure as the head of Evin prison.
