Mohammad Kazem Bahrami, as the head of the Judicial Organisation of the Armed Forces, is responsible for supporting the suppression of peaceful protests against the results of the 2009 presidential election. He is also responsible for covering up, and failing to investigate independently and effectively, the complaints of protesters injured by the Armed Forces. One such significant case is The Kahrizak Detention Centre case, which resulted in the deaths of at least five protesters under torture, and failure to prosecute high-ranking law enforcement officials involved in the case.

- On 10 October, 2011, the European Union placed 29 Iranian officials on the human rights sanctions list, including Mohammad Kazem Bahrami, for their role in widespread and serious violations of the rights of Iranian citizens. According to this decision, Bahrami will be barred from entering the countries of this union and all his assets in Europe will be confiscated. According to the EU statement, Mohammad Kazem Bahrami, as head of the Judicial Organisation of the Armed Forces, was “complicit in the repression of peaceful demonstrators”.
