Mojtaba Maleki, as the prosecutor of Kermanshah, has been responsible for executing numerous death sentences and executions in public. On 4 January, 2011, seven drug prisoners were executed in Kermanshah Central Prison. On 29 December, 2011, two prisoners were publicly executed in Azadi Square in Kermanshah. In the ceremony, Mojtaba Maleki stated that the execution was a lesson for those who commit such acts. He also reported the execution of six people that morning in Kermanshah Central Prison on drug-related charges. On 23 February, 2014, seven people were executed in Kermanshah. On 7 August, 2014, two people were publicly executed in Azadi Square in Kermanshah. Mojtaba Maleki stated that the execution ceremony that took place this morning in Azadi Square in Kermanshah is a concrete example of the efforts of the province's judiciary to maintain the mental security of society.

Since October 9, 2011, the European Union has placed Mojtaba Maleki on its human rights sanctions list for his role in violating the rights of Iranian citizens. According to the EU statement, Mojtaba Maleki, as Kermanshah's Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor, was "primarily responsible for increasing the number of death sentences." Under the decision, Maliki will be barred from entering EU countries and all his assets will be confiscated in Europe.
