Hossein Sajedinia, as Deputy Commander of the Tehran Police Force, had a key role in the suppression, detention, torture and murder of protesters after the 2009 Elections, including:

The attack on the university dormitory on 15 June 2009,

The suppression of protesters on the 26 (Tasoa) and the 27 December (Ashura) 2009, which resulted in the deaths of at least 11,

The transfer of detainees to Kahrizak Detention Center which led to the death of at least three detainees.
Following the announcement of the results of the 10th presidential election in Iran, and the victory of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, widespread protests were held in Iranian cities. These protests were severely suppressed by riot police, IRGC and Basij forces, killing at least 70 people, injuring hundreds and detaining thousands.

On 13 April, 2011, the European Union placed 32 Iranian officials, including Hossein Sajedi Nia, on a human rights sanctions list for their role in widespread and gross violations of the rights of Iranian citizens. According to the decision, Sajedi Nia will be barred from entering the union and all his assets will be confiscated in Europe. According to the EU statement, Hossein Sajedinia, was “responsible for Police operations in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and repression operations in the Iranian capital”.
