Iman Afshari is responsible for the execution of Habib Asiod in his role as a judge in branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court. Afshari accused Asiod of attacking and intending to bomb military units in Ahwaz, using confessions extracted under duress.
Asiod was sentenced to death due to corruption on earth without a lawyer of his choosing present. He was executed on 6th of May 2023.

Iman Afshari, the head of Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, has been responsible for sentencing prisoners of women's rights activists, including Asrin Darkaleh, Maryam Mohammadi, Nahid Shaghaghi, Akram Nasirian, and Saba Kurd Afshari, for their work against gender discrimination. On December 10, 2019, Judge Afshari sentenced Esrin Darakaleh, Maryam Mohammadi, Nahid Shaghaghi, and Akram Nasirian to four years and two months in prison each on charges of "consensus and collusion against national security," "propaganda against the regime," and "committing a Haram act. On September 26, 2019, Judge Afshari sentenced Saba Kurd Afshari, women rights activist to a total of 24 years in prison on charges of "consensus and collusion against national security," "propaganda against the regime," and "spreading vice through removing hijab in public."

Iman Afshari, as the head of Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, has been responsible for sentencing dozens of civil rights activists to prison, rights deprivation and exile for their peaceful efforts to achieve civil rights. Afshari’s courts have been set up in complete disregard of the principles of fair trial and the rights of defendants. Among the rulings issued by Afshari for civil rights activists are the following:
Siamak Mirzaei, an ethnic rights activist, charged with "propaganda activities against the regime", was sentenced to 1 year in prison and 2 years banned from leaving the country (December 14, 2019)
Tohid Amir Amini, an ethnic rights activist, was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison on charges of "conspiracy and collusion to act against national security" and another one and a half years in prison on charges of "propaganda against the regime." (14 July 2019)
Athena Daemi, a children's rights activist, was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison and two years of deprivation of membership in social groups on charges of "propaganda against the regime" and "insulting the leader." (June 19, 2019)
Golrokh Eraei, a civil rights activist, was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison and two years of deprivation of membership in social groups on charges of "propaganda against the regime" and "insulting the leader." (June 18, 2019)
Raheleh Asl Ahmadi, a women's rights activist and mother of Saba Kurd Afshari, a women's rights activist and political prisoner, was sentenced to 4 years and two months in prison on charges of "propaganda against the regime" for providing information about her daughter’s condition in prison (December 16, 2019).
Saba Kurd Afshari, a women's rights activist, was sentenced to a total of 24 years in prison on charges of "encouraging corruption and prostitution", "conspiracy to commit a crime against national security", and "propaganda activities against the regime" (July 27, 2019).
Shakila Monfared, a civil rights activist, was sentenced to six years in prison on charges of "propaganda against the regime" and "insulting the sanctities" (February 3, 2021).

Judge Iman Afshari, as head of Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, has been responsible for issuing prison sentences for religious minorities because of their religious beliefs. These include the sentencing of Atsa Ahmadi, a Baha'i citizen, to eight years in prison on charges of "forming and running an illegal group," "conspiracy against national security," and "propaganda activities against the regime" in May 2021. Ahmadi was charged as such for attempting to obtain a license to establish a women's empowerment group. Afshari also sentenced Aziz Majidzadeh, a Christian citizen, to four years in prison, banned from leaving the country, banned from membership in social groups, and forced labour on charges of "forming or running an illegal organization to undermine national security."

Judge Iman Afshari, as the head of Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, was responsible for issuing prison sentences for artists, dissidents, and political activists for expressing their views and exercising their right to freedom of expression. On July 14, 2019, Mohammad Rasulov, a well-known Iranian filmmaker, was tried in Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, headed by Afshari, on charges of "propaganda against the regime" and later sentenced to one year in prison, two years banned from leaving the country and from Political activity. On March 28, 2018, Abolfazl Ghadyani, a political activist in Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court, headed by Afshari, was sentenced to a total of three years in prison on charges of "insulting the leader" and "propaganda against the regime." In December 2019, Judge Afshari sentenced Hadis Sabouri to more than three years in prison on charges of "insulting the leader" and "spreading lies" for his association with the families of political prisoners and for expressing her views on social media.

Judge Iman Afshari, as the head of Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, issued dozens of prison sentences for the participants in the November 2019 nationwide protests and protesters against the downing of a Ukrainian passenger plane in an illegal process, denying the rights of the accused, including the right to freedom of expression, the right to freedom of assembly and with total disregard for the principles of a fair trial. Among the rulings issued by Iman Afshari for the protesters are the following:
Mostafa Farhani was tried by Judge Afshari without the presence of the accused and sentenced to seven months in prison (April 10, 2020).
Hossein Armand Moradloo was sentenced by Judge Afshari to six years and six months in prison on charges of "conspiracy to act against national security" and "damaging the public property." (May 2020)
Farhad Bakhshi: Judge Afshari was sentenced to six months in prison, one month of forced labour under the command of Basij Organisation and writing a 90-page hand-written essay on the USS Vincennes cruiser on charges of "conspiracy against national security." (May 2020)
Maliheh Jafari: Judge Afshari sentenced her to six months in prison, two months of forced labour, and writing a research on the Islamic hijab and its effects in 90 pages under the supervision of the Women and Family Socio-Cultural Council, as well as hand transcribing three books. (May 2020)

Judge Iman Afshari, as the head of Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, has been responsible for issuing prison sentences for at least five journalists for exercising their right to freedom of expression and carrying out their journalistic duties. On September 3, 2020, Judge Afshari sentenced Mohammad Mosaed to a total of four years and nine months in prison, a two-year ban on journalistic activities, and a ban on the use of the social communication media. Afshari sentenced Keyvan Samimi to a total of 6 years in prison in May 2020. On June 3, 2020, with the verdict of Judge Afshari, Reza Taleshian Jelodarzadeh was sentenced to a total of 3 years in prison and 2 years of deprivation of political and social rights. In November 2019, Judge Afshari sentenced Reza Golpour Chamarkoohi to one year and 10 days in prison for writing a letter to the head of the judiciary, Ebrahim Raisi. Moloud Hajizadeh was sentenced to two years in prison and fine on December 3, 2019 by Judge Afshari.
