Alireza Heidarnia

The forces under Alireza Heidarnia’s command in Karaj IRGC intelligence organization, arrested 21-year-old Armita Abbasi on October 12, 2022, transferred her to the Azimieh detention centre, and subjected her to various tortures including rape.

Armita Abbasi is currently in jail in Kachoui (Pardis) Prison and her trial is due to take place on January 28, 2023. The Alborz province judiciary has announced that she is accused of sharing calls for demonstration on social media and intending to blow up Basij and police stations with Molotov cocktails. The judicial authorities have so far denied her the right to have a lawyer of her choice.

Although the authorities of the Islamic Republic have denied the allegations of sexual assault, Justice for Iran has sufficient evidence and documents to file a case of rape against the above-mentioned individual and the forces under his command.

The 2022-23 protests began following the death of Mahsa (Jina) Amini on September 13, 2022, in the detention of the morality police of the Islamic Republic. These protests quickly spread across the country and are remembered as the largest revolutionary uprising against the government since the establishment of the Islamic Republic.

The Iranian government responded to these protests with deadly violence. According to human rights organizations, the security forces of the Islamic Republic have killed at least 551 people, with a minimum of 68 of them being children.
