Ahmad Shafaei, in his capacity as the commander of the IRGC Salman provincial corps in Sistan and Baluchestan Province and a member of the Provincial Security Council, is responsible for issuing orders to use lethal weapons against protesters and arbitrary mass arrests of protesters during the protests on the anniversary of the bloody Friday in this province. Security forces opened fire towards protesters, resulting in at least 29 people, including 8 children, being injured, and at least 200 people were detained.

Bloody Friday in Zahedan occurred on the Friday September 29, 2022. During the 2022 uprising, Zahedan residents protested against the sexual assault by the former commander of Chabahar police on a 15-year-old girl in front of the 16th police station. Security forces directly shot at protesters during this brutal suppression, resulting in at least 100 deaths, including 14 children.

The 2022-23 protests began following the death of Mahsa (Gina) Amini on September 13, 2022, in the detention of the morality police of the Islamic Republic. These protests quickly spread across the country and are remembered as the largest revolutionary uprising against the government since the establishment of the Islamic Republic. The Iranian government responded to these protests with deadly violence.

According to human rights organizations, the security forces of the Islamic Republic have killed at least 551 people, with a minimum of 68 of them being children.

      Description

The forces, under Hossein Almasi’s command, have raped seven undocumented Baluch children in one of the IRGC’s detention centres in Zahedan. The victims, ranging from 10 to 15 years old, had been arrested during a protest on Friday, November 25, 2022, and were taken to this detention centre. They were released the same day while suffering from pain and injuries caused by rape, to the extent that several of them could barely walk. No agent or higher authority has been held accountable so far for the sexual torture of these children.

The majority of the protesters in the Zahedan demonstrations were undocumented Baluch people, whose Iranian citizenship is not recognized by the Islamic Republic, and who are deprived of basic rights, such as opening a bank account. They have been subjected to detention, torture, and death during the unrest, due to the fact that the Islamic Republic suffer less consequences suppressing the Baluch people, compared to when they crackdown on those who have identity certificates and enjoy the rights of an Iranian citizen.
