On November 14, 2022, the European Union sanctioned Ahmad Vahidi for serious and severe human rights violations during the 2022-2023 protests, including indiscriminate shootings with live ammunition at protesters and children, and arbitrary detention of numerous human rights defenders and journalists. As a result of these sanctions, any assets Ahmad Vahidi holds within the European Union are frozen, and he is prohibited from traveling to EU member countries.   On 6 October 2022, the US Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on Ahmad Vahidi for his role in suppression of the 2022 Iranian people’s uprising. According to the statement of the US Treasury Department, all assets of Ahmad Vahidi in the United States will be frozen and American individuals and companies will be prohibited from doing business with him
