- Description
- As the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Izeh, Yarmohammad Resalatikhah is responsible for issuing the death sentence for Mojahed Koorkoor (Abbas Koorkoori) following proceedings which failed human rights and fair trial standards. On 16 November 2022, during the protests in Izeh, security forces killed several people including 9-year-old Kian Pirfalak. Mojahed Koorkoor (Abbas Koorkoori) was arrested in a joint operation by the IRGC, intelligence, and police forces on 20 December 2022. Based on the confessions extracted from him while subjected to enforced disappearance, Mojahed Koorkoor was accused of shooting and killing protesters. He is sentenced to death on charges of Moharebeh (waging war against God) and Fesad-fel-Arz (corruption on earth). Nationwide protests broke out in Iran in September 2022, after the death of Jina Mahsa Amini in custody of the morality police. Protests continued into 2023, in small pockets across the country. According to reports from human rights organisations, security forces were responsible for the deaths of 537 people, including 68 children.
