Ebrahim Yaqoubian, the Amol’s Friday Prayer Imam, supported the murder of at least two individuals in front of the Amol Governor’s office on 21st of September 2022.
In his Friday prayer sermon on 14th of October 2022, Yaqoubian asserted that thanks to the resistance of the Governor and police officials of Amol, the governorate did not fall to the ‘rebels’.
During the protests in Amol, on 21st of September 2022, security agents stationed on the steps of the Governor’s office shot protesters, killing Ghazaleh Chalabi and Erfan Rezaei.
In footage filmed by Chalabi, an armed person is seen shooting at the protesters from the steps of the Governor’s office. In another scene, Ghazaleh Chalabi who is chanting slogans suddenly falls to the ground after being shot in the head. Erfan Rezaei was killed at the same incident.
The revolutionary uprising of the Iranian people broke out following the death of Mahsa (Jina) Amini on 16th of September 2022. She was killed while in custody of the Islamic Republic Morality Police. Nationwide protests have continued in various forms in different cities across Iran.

As the Friday Prayer Imam of Amol, Ebrahim Yaqoubian is responsible for violating the human rights of women who do not comply with mandatory hijab. Supporting the oppression of women not complying with forced veiling, he warned businesses and facilities against providing services to unveiled women.
In a meeting with the Amol’s administrative council, he urged for the identification of women who, according to him, were hired and tasked to unveil their hijab.
He asked the police to increase pressure on unveiled women by compelling them to sign written undertakings and placing penalties, such as closing businesses which serve these women.
