As the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor, Seyed Mohammad Mousavian is responsible for issuing indictment and state-sanctioned death sentences against three protestors: Saleh Mirhashmi, Majid Kazemi, and Saeid Yaqoubi.
Based on these convicts’ confessions obtained through torture, the Revolutionary Court sentenced them to death on the charge of Moharebeh [waging war against God] for drawing weapons during the protests of 16 November 2022 in Isfahan. Branch 9 of the Supreme Court of Iran upheld the decision on 9 May 2023.
The judicial authorities provided no evidence or documentation to support the claim that firearms were discovered and seized from these protesters.
The Iranian people’s uprising began on 16 September 2022 following the murder of Mahsa (Jina) Amini while in custody of the Morality Police of Iran. The protests of 16 November 2022 were a continuation of this revolutionary uprising and commemorated the anniversary of the protests of November 2019 through demonstration and strike action.

He announced a contract between the IRGC, the Headquarters for Enjoining Right and Forbidding Evil, and the Judiciary on 22 April 2023. Based on this plan, teams will be formed to deal with and arrest women who oppose the mandatory hijab, and cases will be filed against trade unions that provide services to unveiled women.

As the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Isfahan, Seyed Mohammad Mousavian is responsible for arresting and suppressing civil and political activists during the 2022 protests in Isfahan.
The Iranian people’s uprising began on 16 September 2022 following the murder of Mahsa (Jina) Amini. Beaten by security agents, Amini fell into a coma on 13 September 2022 while being in the custody of the Morality Police of Iran. She died three days later.
The news of her death sparked a nationwide protest which is still ongoing in different forms across Iran. According to the reports by human rights organization, at least 469 citizens including 63 children and 32 women have been killed by the Islamic Republic’s law enforcement and security forces during the 2022 protests.
