      Description
Alireza Zakani, in his role as the head of the Basij Student Organization at Tehran universities, was responsible for the detention, assault, and suppression of students at the University of Tehran dormitory on July 9, 1999. In a 2018 interview, he stated that he had a minute-by-minute report from the scene and was present until the very last day. Additionally, Mohsen Pirhadi, a member of the Tehran City Council, mentioned in a note that he had a mission to be present in the eastern streets of the dormitory of the University of Tehran and stated that Alireza Zakani was the one who "divided tasks among the Persons" and positioned individuals in the surrounding streets of the dormitory of the University of Tehran. Following the closure of Salam newspaper on July 6, 1999, a protest was held in the dormitory of the University of Tehran. Following the protest, plainclothes forces (consisting of the Basij and extremist militias such as Ansar Hezbollah) stormed the university dormitory, beating students and destroying property and arresting large numbers of students. At least one person named Ezzatollah Ebrahimnejad was killed in the attack of the security forces on the university campus. After that, two people named Saeed Zeinali and Fereshte Alizadeh went missing.
