      Description

As the deputy of  the Supreme Court of Iran, Seyed Abolhassan Hashemi imamzadeh is responsible for upholding the death sentences of three protesters: Saleh Mirhashemi, Majid Kazemi, and Saeid Yaqubi.

Based on these convicts’ confessions obtained through torture, the Revolutionary Court sentenced them to death on the charge of Moharebeh [waging war against God] for drawing weapons during the protests of 16 November 2022 in Isfahan. Branch 9 of the Supreme Court of Iran upheld the decision on 9 May 2023.

Judicial authorities provided no evidence or documentation to support the claim that firearms were discovered and seized from the mentioned protesters or that they were involved in the killing of security agents.

The Iranian people’s uprising began on 16 September 2022 following the murder of Mahsa (Jina) Amini while in custody of the Morality Police of Iran. The protests of 16 November 2022 were a continuation of this revolutionary uprising and sought to commemorate the anniversary of the protests of November 2019 with calls for demonstration and strike.
