Hamzeh Borouzei Kootenayi

   Hamzeh Borzouei Kootenayi is responsible for enforcing compulsory hijab at university in his role as head of the intelligence department of the university.

Borzouei is accused of being directly involved in the repression of students protesting this policy and inflicting physical violence against them on June 14th and in the morning of June 15th in Bagh-e Melli Campus. He has cooperated with the security forces in arresting dozens of protesting students in the streets around the university.

Following a text message that informed students of mandatory hijab from June 17^th, students at Tehran University of Art started a sit-in protest on June 14^th that lasted until the morning of June 15^th. The security forces of this university along with Borzouei tried to disperse the students with intimidation, insults and threats. One of their strategies was banning drinking water and the use of toilets for those participating in the protest.

On the morning of the 15^th, Borzouei beat students severely and said he would attack with DShK should a fly be at university doors on the following Saturday.

    Hamzeh Borzouei Kootenayi, as head of the intelligence department of the university , is responsible for the banning and conditional suspension of at least 40 female students for not obeying mandatory hijab.

University officials, including the university president and security, have said that suspensions will be lifted if students go attend wearing hijab.
