Mohammadreza Hosnaei, is responsible for enforcing compulsory hijab at university in his role as the president of Tehran University of Art.
Hosnaei is accused of being directly involved in the repression of students protesting this policy and inflicting physical violence against them on June 14th and in the morning of June 15th in Bagh-e Melli Campus. He has cooperated with the security forces in arresting dozens of protesting students in the streets around the university.
Following a text message that informed students of mandatory hijab from June 17th, students at Tehran University of Art started a sit-in protest on June 14th that lasted until the morning of June 15th.
The security forces of this university tried to disperse the students with intimidation, insults and threats. One of their strategies was banning drinking water and the use of toilets for those participating in the protest.

Mohammadreza Hosnaei, as the president of Tehran University of Art, is responsible for suspending, banning and expelling professors and students of this university for supporting and participating in the revolutionary uprising of 1401.
From the beginning of the 1401 protests, Tehran University of Art played a prominent role in supporting and accompanying the protests with its gatherings and performing and visual arts.
For example, on the 17th of October 2022, the sculpture students of this university were threatened by the university authorities, referred to the disciplinary committee and suspended after their art display. The display was of 24 graves, and was related to the killing and suppression of protesters. After that, a number of sculpture professors were banned from teaching because of supporting students.
Mahsa (Jina) Amini was killed on 16 September 2022 while being in custody of the Morality Police of the Islamic Republic. In protest of her death, a nationwide uprising broke out in Iran which is still ongoing in various forms in different cities.
According to the reports of human rights organizations, the police and security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have killed at least 537 citizens, including 68 children, during the revolutionary uprising of the Iranian people.

Mohammad Reza Hosnaei, as the president of Tehran University of Arts, is responsible for the banning and conditional suspension of at least 40 female students for not obeying mandatory hijab.
University officials, including the university president and security, have said that suspensions will be lifted if students go attend wearing hijab.
