In his role as Deputy of Branch 1 in the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office for Tehran’s District 33, Sarnaghi is responsible for issuing indictment order for women detained in the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests.
He requested the prosecutor to issue a large number of women with indictments on the basis of the following charges: • Spreading lies through computers • Propaganda against the Islamic Republic (Mahsa) • Gathering and conspiring to commit a crime against internal/external security (Mahsa) • Embracing women as a symbol of solidarity • Disturbing public order and peace (Mahsa) These charges relate to women who participated in gatherings from 2022 to 2024.
The Women, Life, Freedom protests began following the killing of Mahsa (Jina) Amini on September 13, 2022, while in the custody of the Islamic Republic’s Moral Security Police. The protests quickly spread across the country and are considered the largest revolutionary uprising against the government since the founding of the Islamic Republic.
The government in Iran responded to these protests with deadly violence. According to reports from human rights organizations, the Islamic Republic’s law enforcement and security forces have killed at least 551 people, at least 68 of whom were children.

The 2022-2023 protests began following the killing of Mahsa (Jina) Amini on September 13, 2022, while in the custody of the Islamic Republic's Moral Security Police. Amidst the protests and afterwards, women have resisted the mandatory hijab in various ways and have suffered widespread repression, including denial of public services, education, arrest, court cases, fines, and imprisonment.

- Nasser Jalayer Sarnaghi, as an investigator at the Evin Prosecutor's Office, played a fundamental role in fabricating charges against five female political and civil activists—Varisheh Moradi, Pakhshan Azizi, Marzieh Farsi, Nasim Gholami Simiary, and Forough Taghi-pour—accusing them of 'Corruption on Earth' and 'Baghi,' charges that could carry the death penalty under Iranian law. Consequently, two of them were sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Courts.
