- Shahrabi is responsible for sentencing women to prison and fines on the basis of not complying with the mandatory hijab in the context of ”Woman, Life, Freedom” protests. He has put the charge of Removing hijab in public places in the cases of many women and tried them on that bases. The 2022-2023 protests began following the killing of Mahsa (Jina) Amini on September 13, 2022, while in the custody of the Islamic Republic's Moral Security Police. Amidst the protests and afterwards, women have resisted the mandatory hijab in various ways and have suffered widespread repression, including denial of public services, education, arrest, court cases, fines, and imprisonment.

Abolfazl Ameri Shahrabi is responsible for sentencing women to prison for their involvement in the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests. He has added the charge of Disturbing public order to the cases of many women and has sentenced them to lashes, prison time, and fines.
The Women, Life, Freedom protests began following the killing of Mahsa (Jina) Amini on September 13, 2022, while in the custody of the Islamic Republic’s Moral Security Police. The protests quickly spread across the country and are considered the largest revolutionary uprising against the government since the founding of the Islamic Republic.
The government in Iran responded to these protests with deadly violence. According to reports from human rights organizations, the Islamic Republic’s law enforcement and security forces have killed at least 551 people, at least 68 of whom were children.
