On 13 January 2021, the US Treasury added Mohammad Mokhber and the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO) and its subsidiaries to its list of sanctions. In a statement the US treasury states that EIKO “control large swaths of the Iranian economy, including assets expropriated from political dissidents and religious minorities, to the benefit of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior Iranian government officials.” According to this decision, Mokhber and EIKO’s assets in the United States or under the control of American banks and companies will be frozen and Mokhber will be barred from entering the country. Citizens of the United States will also be banned from doing business with Mokhber, the EIKO and its subsidiaries.
